No Man's Sky, developed by Hello Games (makers of Joe Danger), was first announced during Spike's VGX awards show on December 7, 2013.

It will debut on PlayStation 4. No other platforms are confirmed at this stage. Hello Games acknowledge they are, "super interested," to release on PC.

It features procedurally generated environments, including planets (with flora & fauna), star systems and galaxies, for the player to explore. Also, like Frontier and Evochron Mercenary, the game features a seamless transition between the surface of a planet and space.

No release window is confirmed, beyond what Sean Murray of Hello Games described as, "Soonish."
Gameplay

No Man's Sky developer Hello Games has remained vague in regards to the gameplay loop. Players are free to explore a procedurally generated universe in first-person and via their own spacecraft. There is no overt goal or objective by intent. The Atlas, the translucent diamond with the red bubble on the logo treatment, is the only current indication towards any in-game fiction or overarching objective.All players share a procedural universe, generated under the one seed. New players are placed on an previously undiscovered planet on the rim of the galaxy. Hello Games expect many players to head inward towards the core the galaxy. Game difficulty ramps up as players progress towards the core, as players find themselves challenged by a “malevolent force.”

Gameplay is known to include space and ground based combat, open world exploration and discovery. Resource (or RESOZU in game) located on planets will be utilised to enable upgrade to the player's suit (such as to provide greater resistance to toxic, radioactive and underwater environments) and tools for resource acquisition and on-foot combat. The player's ship also has a suite of upgrades such as FTL jump distance, and can receive support from NPC Wingmen.
Multiplayer"No Man's Sky is not a MMO." However, online interaction includes asynchronous multi-player pooling players' discoveries into central database as the community collectively map and catalogue the universe. Social features as in-game chat are confirmed.
In-game multiplayer interaction is not confirmed at this stage. Hello Games describe any multiplayer implementation is likely to be similar to player phasing used in Journey or Dark Souls.
Music
All musical accompaniment to gameplay thus far as been by Sheffield based, Post-Rock act 65daysofstatic (sic). Sean Murray of Hello Games confirms that talks will take place with the band to involve with No Man's Sky soundtrack.
